Deepening Exchanges for Mutual Benefit, Pioneering New Chapters of Cooperation: University of Wollongong President Visits the Joint Institute

On the afternoon of November 4, Professor G.Q. Max Lu AO, President of the University of Wollongong(UOW), led a six-members’ delegation to the Nanhu Campus of Central China Normal University (CCNU). The delegation held a symposium with faculty and student representatives of CCNU Wollongong Joint Institute, engaging in in-depth discussions on the Institute's achievements and future development.

The UOW delegation included Professor Jiangtao Xi, Associate Deputy Dean for Global Affairs from the School of Engineering and Information Sciences of UOW, and Australian Dean of the CCNU Wollongong Joint Institute;  Professor Belinda Gibbons, Dean of the Business School from the Faculty of Business and Law; Liza Rodgers, Executive Director of the Department of Future Students and International Cooperation; Lily An, Senior Manager of International Affairs and Collaborative Partnerships; and Felix Lanceley, General Manager of the University of Wollongong College.

The event was attended by Hong Feng, Director of the Department of International Cooperation at CCNU; Professor Xu Du, Dean of the Joint Institute; and faculty and student representatives. The symposium was presided over by Jun Xu, Vice Dean of the Joint Institute.

At the symposium, Professor Du reviewed the Institute's fruitful achievements since its establishment in talent cultivation and research innovation, and expressed heartfelt gratitude for UOW's consistent support. President Lu then delivered a speech, highly commending the Joint Institute's outstanding performance in student research and graduate employment, and expressing his vision for deepening cooperation in areas such as co-developing new programs and joint doctoral training.

During the exchange session, faculty and student representatives from the Joint Institute, majoring in Computer Science, Telecommunication Engineering, and other fields, shared their practical insights and personal growth under the joint training model based on their own teaching and learning experiences. The UOW delegation gave positive feedback on the presentations and noted that alumni network development is a priority for the university, expressing hope that the two universities would work together to build this vital bridge connecting them.

This meeting further consolidated the partnership between the University of Wollongong and Central China Normal University, injecting new momentum into the sustainable development of the Joint Institute, and laying a solid foundation for future educational cooperation between the two universities in broader areas.
