To bridge the gap between academic theory and industry practice, students and faculty from the CCNU Wollongong Joint Institute visited the Baidu PaddlePaddle (Wuhan) AI Industry Empowerment Center on the morning of November 26. The visit aimed to broaden the participants' horizons and provide first-hand exposure to the latest innovations and industrial applications of artificial intelligence.
During the tour, participants explored the technology exhibition area, the industrial application lab, and the developer exchange space. Through live demonstrations, interactive displays, and expert briefings, the group gained a comprehensive understanding of PaddlePaddle’s core strengths in deep-learning research and development, industrial AI upgrading, and open-source ecosystem development. They also observed real-world AI applications across sectors such as transportation, healthcare, and smart manufacturing. From foundational models and algorithms to large-scale industrial deployment, the exhibits demonstrated the potential of AI across a wide range of applications, the visit fully demonstrated AI's powerful potential for social empowerment and left a deep impression on all attendees.

The visit also included in-depth discussions among students, faculty members and Baidu’s technical experts on topics such as "AI + Industry" integration and innovation, the research of deep learning and cultivation of students' practical ability. Drawing on their industry experience, the experts shared insights into current AI trends and market demands. They encouraged students to build on their academic foundations, actively embrace technological shifts, and hone their skills through both theoretical study and hands-on practice. Participating students remarked that the visit was an inspiring, technology-infused educational experience that not only deepened their understanding of cutting-edge AI but also reinforced their sense of responsibility to utilize academic strengths in solutions for real-world challenges.

This event marks an important step in the Joint Institute’s efforts to advance an integrated education model that combines academics with industry practice. Moving forward, the Institute will continue to build platforms for university-enterprise collaboration, ensuring that academic development aligns seamlessly with talent cultivation and research innovation. The ultimate goal is to guide students to scale new heights in technological innovation, cultivate high-quality, interdisciplinary talent, and contribute to the high-quality development of the global AI industry.
