Overview:
This two-lecture series includes two parts. The first part is a tutorial on fundamental big data techniques (i.e., MapReduce, stream processing and data mining) and platforms (i.e. Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark and Apache Kafka). I will explain and illustrate the underneath technology architectures and programming models as well as some hands-on programming skills. The second part presents my own research in this area briefly, including event stream analysis, time-series mining and probabilistic verification.
