On April 2nd, the conference of Chinese-Australian cooperation in Education was held at the Xingjian Sports Center of the Jiading Campus of Shanghai University. The conference organized by the Commission on Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Education of the China Education Association for International Exchange(CEAIE), and co-organized by the SHU-UST SILC Business School. More than 60 people who are responsible for Chinese-foreign cooperation in education institutions and project involved in Chinese-Australia to were invited to participate in the conference. JI Deputy Dean Mr. WU Helin, Ms. Liu Shuo, the Office Director of JI, and the relevant persons with the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges and the Division of Teaching Affairs were present at the conference.
Mr. ZONG Wa, Deputy Secretary of CEAIE, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He said outlined the goals, directions, opportunities, and challenges of Chinese-foreign cooperation in education. In order to explore the development law of Chinese-Australian cooperation in Education, analyze the opportunities and challenges faced by Chinese-Australia cooperation in education at this stage, and seek development strategies, the CEAIE delegate the SHU-UST SILC Business School to conduct research on the current status of Chinese-Australia cooperation in education. The research team lasted for half a year, and the results of the research are at the final stage. He hoped that the project group will take this seminar as an opportunity to integrate the experts and scholars' suggestions, and further improve it to form a more valuable comprehensive report.
Afterwards, professor Hu Xiaohan, Deputy Dean of the SHU-UST SILC Business School, reported on the current situation of Chinese-Australian cooperation in in Education. He introduced the research results of the research team comprehensively, from the aspects of Chinese-Australia's basic cooperation, cooperation management mechanism, curriculum cooperation and construction, teachers' composition and management, quality assurance system, capital and foreign exchange management, and spillover effects.
In the keynote speech of the conference, Mr. Wu Helin shared the experience of “Promoting the development of University by Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Education”. He introduced the basic situation of JI and proposed that JI is in the development opportunity period. Our academic programs meet the needs of the industry, social recognition continues to increase, and also help the discipline construction of the university and the construction of the new campus. But at the same time, it also faces the challenges brought by the reality, such as school reform, the differences between Chinese-Australia teaching and talent cultivation model. He said that JI will center on the construction of "Double First-rate" university, focus on talent cultivation and scientific research, and solve the current problems so that the development of JI meets the strategic needs of the development of university and disciplines, which also can train outstanding international professionals for the national industrial transformation and upgrading.
The conference focused on the Chinese-Australian cooperation in Education. Through various forms such as group discussion, keynote speech and symposium, the conference reviewed the experience accumulated in the cooperation between Chinese-Australian in recent years. The exchanges among the various universities have important reference significance for the future of JI.
