UOW Engineering and Technology ranks in top 100 worldwide.

Ranking success has continued for UOW, with the University jumping more than 80 places in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018 by subject: Engineering and Technology in the engineering category.

Announced earlier this week, the ranking places the University in the top six in Australia and number 96 in the world for engineering. UOW was also ranked in the top 300 worldwide for computer science.

The 2018 Times Higher Education World University Rankings’ table for engineering and technology subjects employs the same rigorous and balanced range of 13 performance indicators used in its overall World University Rankings, with the methodology recalibrated to suit the individual fields.

The ranking highlights the universities that are leading across electrical, mechanical, civil, chemical and general engineering subjects. The ranking has expanded to this year include 500 institutions, up from 100 last year.

UOW Associate Dean (Education) of Engineering, Associate Professor Rodney Vickers, said the outstanding result could be attributed to a commitment to excellence.

“This result is a clear indication of the hard work undertaken by both academic and professional staff in leading world-class engineering schools,” he said.

“We will continue to produce quality graduates and strive for excellence in research and teaching.”

UOW was announced as the highest rated university in Australia for Engineering (undergraduate) in the 2017 Quality Indicators for Teaching and Learning (QILT), and also received five stars in the graduate outcomes category in the 2018 Good Universities Guide for Engineering and Computer and Information Systems.
