The 8th annual meeting of Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools

 

From November 5 to November 7, 2017, sponsored by the Department of the International Cooperation and Exchanges, Ministry of Education and organized by the Center of Research on Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools, Xiamen University, and co-hosted by the Fujian Provincial Department of Education and the China Association of Higher Education, the eighth annual meeting of China-foreign cooperation in running schools was successfully held in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. With the theme of "Co-ordinating the Overall Situation at Home and Abroad and Doing a Good Job In Sino-Foreign Cooperation In Running Schools at the New Period," the annual meeting attracted more than 600 people from the Ministry of Education, the Educational Departments of relevant provinces, relevant universities and joint institutes. JI Dean Prof. Yu Xin Guo, and Deputy Dean Mr. Wu Helin, and Ms. Liu Shuo, Director of the Office, were invited to attend the conference.

At the opening ceremony, DU Yubo, president of the China Association of Higher Education, and former deputy party secretary of the Ministry of Education, delivered a key-note speech, where he highly affirmed the theme chosen for this annual meeting and pointed out that this annual meeting was of great significance for the in-depth study and publicity and implementation of the 19th CPC National Congress and as a guide to innovate the concept of running a Sino-foreign cooperative education and the school running system.

Entrusted by Mr. XU Tao, Director-General of the Department of the International Cooperation and Exchanges, Ministry of Education, Fang Jun delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. He emphasized that the work of Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools should fully implement the Party's education policy, improve overall quality and effectiveness, and assume the historic mission of Sino-foreign cooperative education in a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics. To meet people's diversified and high-quality education needs as the center, we should expand openness, strengthen education in China, promote humanities exchanges between China and the rest of the world, and constantly improve the quality of education and international influence in our country. We must adhere to the Party’s educational principle, provide the diversified and high-quality education, nourish the talents from countries of the Belt and Road, and promote the internationalization of China's education.

This year's annual conference received more than 80 academic papers, of which 48 were selected for the conference proceedings. The meeting invited more than 10 experts and scholars to do the conference report and set up four sub-forums to conduct extensive exchanges and discussions in depth on the theme of the conference and on the eight sub-topics. Among them, JI Deputy Dean WU Helin made an exchange on the significance of building a Chinese teaching staff team in the running of Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions. He pointed out that among the Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions that operate in a " A strong partner university plus a not-so-strong one " mode, Chinese teachers, as the main force of teacher education, are fully involved in all aspects of teaching, scientific research and management. They are responsible for absorbing foreign quality education resources and advanced education concepts, approaching the most cutting-edge scientific research achievements, and enhancing the quality of personnel training and scientific research. To build a diversified, internationalized and three-dimensional Chinese teaching force can be described as a new attempt and exploration by Chinese-foreign cooperative education institutions to achieve positive interaction with parent schools and achieve sustainable development.
