The Ministry of Education (MoE) offcially released its quality assessment at joint institutions and programs under Chinese-foreign cooperation in education on Nov.26 2018, confirming CCNU Wollongong Joint Institute (JI) as “qualified”.

The result is the culmination of months of hard work by staff across both CCNU and UOW preparing for MoE’s assessment process that covered almost every aspect of the institution’s activities - from teaching, learning, quality assurance, and social service through to management, financial arrangement and student support services. Procedures include self-evaluation, social satisfaction survey, and comprehensive review by the relevant experts.

By maintaining introduction of educational resources with high quality, innovation of talent training models, and improvement of management mechanism, the JI is fully prepared for the next phase of development.

According to the regulations on Chinese-foreign cooperative education issued by the MoE and its implementation methods, the MoE regularly evaluates joint institutions and projects that are approved to be established. The results are divided into three categories: “qualified”, “qualified with conditions” and “unqualified”. For those who are not qualified, they will have to take penalties such like rectification within a time limit, or enrollment prohibition in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

At present, Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools has become an important part of China’s higher education. By the end of September 2018, the total number of joint institutions and programs approved nationwide was 2,365, including 1,112 ones for undergraduates and above (88 institutions and 1024 programs).
